Factors associated to the syndrome of fragility in the population greater adult of the Parish of Saint Antonio, Canton Ibarra, and Province of Imbabura of August to December of the 2016
Abstract
Objectives: Determine factors associated with the syndrome of fragility in the older population of the parish of San Antonio, Canton Ibarra, province of Imbabura August to Dec.
Materials and methods: Descriptive study of cross section, with a representative sample of 321 older adults, calculated from the total population assigned to the health center of San Antonio, from 1633 older adults by the year 2015, approved by the Subcommittee on bioethics; interview staff in their homes. We used the 7 EPI-info program; the studied variables were analyzed and subsequently related among themselves, using of chi 2, error 5% e P <0, 05% interval of confident of 95%
Results: Interviewed older population interval 321, 113 (35%) fragile, 129 (40%) prefragiles and 79 (25%) robust. Socio-demographic and functional factors were statistically significant and Comorbidities associated with frailty syndrome, not that there is an association and they are independent.
Conclusions: The factors studied have a high association with the frailty syndrome. This study provides an important basis for the clinica-geriatrica evaluation, to develop both promotion and prevention interventions in health, a multidisciplinary work and avoid as far as possible the appearance of this syndrome.
