Abstract

The Ecuadorian state consecrates health as a fundamental right through its constitution, to guarantee this right it has implemented multiple public health strategies through the Ministry of Health. However, the inclusion of oral health in these policies is a health debt because little has been articulated in these initiatives. This article intends to summarize the policies in dental public health considered by the authors as an important axis in the coverage of health services in the country. Also consider that possibly the absence of updated information on the oral health status of Ecuadorians, contributes directly to the lack of implementation of new interventions based on scientific evidence that support informed decision making.
