Reapertura de escuelas durante la pandemia de COVID-19
Resumen
El 11 de marzo del 2020 la OMS declaró pandemia de COVID-19, causada por el virus SARS-CoV-2. Como resultado, varios países implementaron medidas para evitar la propagación del virus, dentro de las cuales el cierre de los centros escolares fue una decisión común implementada a nivel mundial. La información sobre esta medida es conflictiva, varios estudios reportan que los niños tienen baja participación en la cadena de transmisión mientras que otros reportan que son vehículos de transmisión por su alta carga viral y tendencia a no ser detectados por radares epidemiológicos. Existe un impacto psicológico y social en los niños frente al cierre de escuelas, sin embargo, este factor no debe ser el único determinante en la decisión de reaperturar centros escolares. El gobierno de cada país debe medir su capacidad de control epidemiológico y de respuesta ante posibles brotes y sopesarla contra los efectos que el cierre escolar tiene en sus niños para empezar a considerar la reapertura de escuelas. Con este fin organismos internaciones proponen un listado de recomendaciones para ayudar a los países que decidan reaperturar escuelas a hacerlo tan seguro como sea posible.
